Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time Litigation Attorney licensed in the State of New Jersey to manage estate and family law litigation matters on a flexible schedule of 10–20 hours per week. The ideal candidate is capable of handling cases independently, prioritizing work efficiently, and delivering high-quality legal services within defined hourly expectations. This role requires strong litigation skills, sound judgment, and comfort working in a structured, case-management-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned litigation matters from intake through resolution
- Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement documents
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
- Represent clients in New Jersey courts, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings, as required
- Maintain timely and accurate case updates, billing entries, and documentation
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding case status and expectations
- Collaborate with internal legal and operations teams to ensure deadlines are met
- Ensure compliance with New Jersey court rules, deadlines, and ethical obligations
- Use MyCase for case management, task tracking, billing, and documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license and good standing with the New Jersey State Bar (required)
- Litigation experience. Specific experience in estate or family law litigation is preferred, however, we are willing to train
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage workload effectively within a 10–20 hour per week schedule
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment
- Proficiency with legal technology and case management systems (MyCase experience preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Courtroom or hearing experience in New Jersey
- Experience managing matters independently from intake to resolution
- Familiarity with New Jersey e-filing systems and local court procedures
- Prior experience in a part-time or hourly litigation role
